The Officers’ Ex-Wives Club, Book 1. Available now at Audible.com From the Publisher: This sexy military pilot is about to meet his match in an unpredictable physics professor! Kaci Boudreaux is every Southern mama’s nightmare, including her own. This former Miss Grits would rather tromp around in boots shooting off potato guns – and her mouth – than dress pretty and play nice with the boys. Especially her chauvinistic fellow professors, her ex-husband, and those military cargo pilots she accidentally started a war with. Lance Wheeler is every Southern belle’s dream, except his ex-fiancée’s. After being left at the altar, he’d love to take his C-130 and fly far, far away. But since his bird technically belongs to Uncle Sam (as does he), a distraction in the form of a feisty fireball of a physics professor will do while he’s waiting for his next deployment with the Air Force. He’s into her for the fun. She’s into him for the challenge. But when their secrets and fears start slipping out, their hearts – and even her job – will be on the line. She needs roots. He wants to see the world. What will they do about needing each other? My recording experience: Before recording any of the Misfit Brides series for Jamie, I read Southern Fried Blues (after reading a review at Dee’s Book Blog) and fell in love with Jamie’s writing, especially the way she captures the south. This series has a complicated ordering, though, which Jamie explains in a blog post. I hope you’ll check it out – it’s a completely different world from Blissed. The characters and scenario aren’t quite as quirky, but there’s still a good deal of humor. And quirk. But the real life challenges of being a military spouse as well as those faced by women working in a man’s world are both addressed, in mostly serious ways. With a grumpy cat thrown in for fun… Listen to a sample here: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. Janie M, KTBee, Jackie W., Dawn F. and E. Robbins are the randomly selected winners. Available now from Harper Audio. From the Publisher: There’s no such thing as a little in love… Elle Wheaten’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . . There’s no such thing as a little in lust… Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. But now that she’s earned happiness and success, Archer just wants Elle 24/7. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco Earthquake, and Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . . There is such a thing as… As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along… From the review at AudioFile Magazine: “Two more friends find romance in Shalvis’s next audiobook in the Heartbreaker Bay series. Elle Wheaton and Archer Hunt share a past and are hesitant to deepen their relationship. Narrator Karen White expresses Elle’s take-charge attitude and Archer’s equally strong personality. Characters from the previous books add to the listener’s enjoyment, with White pleasantly voicing each of them. White successfully expresses the many humorous interactions between the characters. For those who are familiar with the series, it’s a visit with old friends. But those new to the series will enjoy the audiobook as well.” From the review at The Book Nympho: “Anytime I’m in the mood for a fun, sexy romance with yummy alpha-type guys and strong women I look to Jill Shalvis. Then pair that story with Karen White’s narrations and you have a good time waiting to happen. These two ladies are one of my favorite teams when it comes to contemporary romances on audio.” From the review at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: “Karen White returns to narrate Accidentally on Purpose. She never fails to deliver a polished production and bring Jill’s wonderful characters to life. She aces all the voices – male, female and animal. Anytime I see that Karen has narrated a book that I want to read, I always elect to listen rather than read as I know that Karen will enhance my enjoyment of the story.” From The Geeky Blogger’s 30 Days of Thanks post: “Today (Day . . .

Sugared by Jamie Farrell/Narrated by Karen White was my FAVORITE in the series (and I enjoyed the whole series). It had me in stitched but more importantly had me rooting for the couple from beginning to end. You guys really should check it out!” My recording experience: Recording (and thus living imaginatively in) the world of Bliss as created by Jamie Farrell has been one of the joys of 2016 for me. And boy howdy, have I needed that joy. Snack Cake Heir…Cupcake Princess…cats named Boo and Peep…what else do you need? I love Jamie’s world so much that I bought Kimmie’s favorite game Killer Bunnies for my nephew’s birthday gift (hearing that Jamie went to a castle in Ohio for the weekend to play this game with friends sealed the deal). Blood Brothers, #1. Available October 4, 2016 from Hachette Audio. From the Publisher: “DON’T LOOK BACK Under siege. That’s how Ryker Jones feels. The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency he opened up with his blood brothers has lost a client in a brutal way. The past he can’t outrun is resurfacing, threatening to drag him down in the undertow. And the beautiful woman he’s been trying to keep at arm’s length is in danger…and he’ll destroy anything and anyone to keep her safe. Paralegal Zara Remington is in over her head. She’s making risky moves at work by day and indulging in an affair with a darkly dangerous PI by night. There’s a lot Ryker isn’t telling her and the more she uncovers, the less she wants to know. But when all hell breaks loose, Ryker may be the only one to save her. If his past doesn’t catch up to them first… Full of twists and turns you won’t see coming, DEADLY SILENCE is New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti at her suspenseful best.” From the review in AudioFile Magazine: “Karen White narrates this fast-paced romantic suspense with nonstop energy. Paralegal Zara Remington finds herself drawn into mystery and danger as her job and her personal life, particularly her relationship with the mysterious Ryker Jones, intersect. The story has lots of twists and turns as Zara and Ryker deepen their relationship while at the same time dealing with murder, kidnapping, and Ryker’s past. White maintains the energy and emotion of the story through variations in the pacing and intensity of her reading. Zara is unused to the situations she finds herself in, and White portrays her with a lot of emotion. She gives Ryker a deeper pitch and calmer tone that provide an engaging rhythm to the story’s narration.” From the review at The Book Nympho: “Having Karen White return as the narrator for this world was only natural. White brought Zanetti’s Sin Brothers to life and she does the same great job with the Blood Brothers. I also love the fact that White gets to reprise her role as the doctor that spans both series.” From the review at Hot Listens: “4.5 Hearts: I’m so glad that they got Karen White to do this series. After listening to her narrate the Sin Brothers, it was great to have her back to take us on this journey with Blood Brothers. I like her ability to voice alpha male characters and women characters. The real unique voice in this series is the voice of the “good doctor”. She sounds exactly how I would expect a person like this woman would sound. If you haven’t tried Karen White, I highly recommend her.” . . .
The Misfit Brides books 2 and 3. Available now at Audible.com. I’ve been recording all of Jamie’s Misfit Brides books this summer and having a blast with them. Bliss is a fun town to hang out in! #4 in the series, SUGARED is on the way and I’m starting my prep read of #5, MERRIED. But what was fun about these two is that they take place at the same time. MATCHED is the story of Lindsay Castellano and her Country-Singer-That-Got-Away Will Truitt, aka Billy Brenton. Their story is complex with lots of history so it’s a full length novel. SMITTENED is a novella, about Bliss Ice Cream shop owner Dahlia Mallard, and Billy Brenton’s side man and best friend, bad boy Mikey Diamond. While Lindsay and Will are working things through in one book, Mikey and Dahlia happen to fall in love in the other book. There’s some overlap in the stories, so I was glad I got to record them close together. And I think listeners should listen to them close together, too. From the review of MATCHED at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: “I listened to the audio edition of MATCHED with the fantastically talented Karen White narrating. Karen White is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Once again, Karen’s narration is really, truly wonderful. Her pacing is spot on. Her delivery is natural. I could listen to Karen all day and still be mesmerized. Her performances are always highly entertaining, polished and sublimely executed. I have discovered numerous new-to-me authors – including Jamie Farrell – thanks to Karen.” From the review of MATCHED at Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog: “Karen is an excellent fit for this series. She has that breezy, quirky, yet stubborn type of voice that can match all the women and their attitudes. She very much sales the quirkiness of the town and nailed that last section which just had to be fun to record!” From the review of SMITTENED at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: “Karen White returns to fantastically narrate SMITTENED. There is nothing that falls short in her performance. She captures the persona of each character and brings them to life. Her pacing is spot on. Both her male and female voices sound genuine and character differentiation is a breeze. I could go on fan-girling, but suffice to say, Karen is one of my very favorite narrators for good reason. Her productions are always perfect, polished, exceptional pleasures. Listening to SMITTENED with Karen’s narration adds an additional layer of enjoyment to this installment of Misfit Brides.” From the review of SMITTENED at The Geeky Blogger: “Karen is such a great match for this series. She really nailed Dahlia and made me fall . . .
Heartbreaker Bay #1 Available now from Harper Audio. From the Publisher: “Choose the one guy you can’t have . . . As captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas—the hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her neighbors; problem is, she’s in danger of stumbling into love with Mr. Right for Anybody But Her. Fall for him—hard . . . Pub owner Finn O’Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze. But when a freak accident involving darts (don’t ask) leads to shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast. And then tell him the truth. Pru only wants Finn to be happy; it’s what she wishes for at the historic fountain that’s supposed to grant her heart’s desire. But wanting him for herself is a different story—because Pru’s been keeping a secret that could change everything. . . .” From the review at AudioGals: “How many ways can I say that Karen White is a terrific narrator for contemporary romance? Let me count the ways! Her tone is conversational and the pacing is completely natural. She has comic timing that matches Shalvis’ prose to perfection, and hey – she gets to voice another cute animal! Her character voices are well-developed, with differentiation in many ways, including timbre, range and acting/attitude, and it’s always clear which one is speaking. It always sounds like she’s having fun reading! I left the book feeling happy (that’s always my goal) – it was a great opening to a new series and the perfect summer listen!” From the review at Reading Between the Wines Bookclub: “SWEET LITTLE LIES is narrated by Karen White. She is hands-down one of my very favorite narrators. I’ve gotten to where I’ll try just about anything she voices and I’ve discovered new favorite authors because she narrated their works. The pairing of Jill Shalvis and Karen White is nothing short of exquisiteness. Karen’s voice is clear. She seamlessly differentiates between characters. Her pacing is right on and her tones and inflections are perfection! She really nails the humor, charm and sassiness that are inherent in Jill’s writing. If you haven’t listened to one of Karen’s performances, I highly recommend that you do… soon!” From the review at Bookfan: “Karen White did a fine job with the narration. I liked how she voiced each character and I had no trouble determining who was speaking. One particular scene involving a character who experienced possible food-poisoning had me laughing – . . .
Available now at Audible.com From the Publisher: “Welcome to Bliss, the bridal capital of the Midwest! Natalie Castellano practically has it all – beauty, brains, and a stellar reputation. Because childbearing hips and exhaustion lines are totally sexy. And knowing when to let go of her family’s failing bridal boutique is smart…right? Plus, who doesn’t want to be that divorced mother in Bliss? With all she has going for her, it would be selfish to secretly wish for love too. Who needs it? Definitely not Nat. But perhaps she does need to take her wedding dress-obsessed little boy somewhere else for a fresh start. CJ Blue is on top of the world. At least, he was last week when he stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Now, he’s in an empty confessional, hiding from the hullabaloo of a family wedding. a.k.a. the depths of hell. His meddling relatives want to poke at the deep psychological wounds he supposedly bears from being a 20-something widower. But he doesn’t want to talk, he doesn’t want to be fussed over, and he certainly doesn’t want another chance to fail at love. He just wants to get through this wedding and back to his adventurous life. But when a dark-haired, wounded-eyed beauty invades his sanctuary and whispers a secret he was never supposed to know, he gets swept up in her life. Is he brave enough to tackle the adventure of life in Bliss, or will he walk away from the only woman in the world who could offer him love, forgiveness, and a second chance?” From the review at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: BLISSED is fabulously performed by Karen White, one of my very favorite narrators. I’ve gotten to where I’ll pick up just about anything that Karen narrates. Yes, she’s that fabulous! I’ve found many new favorite authors via Karen – Jamie is one of them! Not surprisingly, Karen’s narration of BLISSED is excellent as she voices a variety of characters from little boys, to old men to autocratic queen generals. Her voice is clear, her delivery is natural and her pacing is perfect. You simply can’t go wrong with anything that Karen narrates! From the review at Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh my! “Karen White is a favorite and I always enjoy her narration. “ From the review at AudioGals: “Of course, when you write a romance with humor, who else should narrate but Karen White, who has done such great work with some of the best romantic comedies in audio? Her wonderful comedic timing and dry wit accentuate the antics, and her natural, talking-to-your-BFF pacing makes every book she reads a pleasure. She differentiates well among all the . . .
#3 in the Cedar Ridge Series. Available now from Hachette Audio. From the Publisher: “SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN . . . After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock. Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease-and tempt-him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.” From the review at AudioGals: “Karen White is truly one of the top contemporary romance narrators today. She has been the voice of Shalvis’ Animal Magnetism and Cedar Ridge series, delivering these stories in her own inimitable way – which is to say, perfectly! She uses pacing well to indicate the emotions, both light and dark. She placed Sophie’s voice a little higher and gave her just the slightest Texas twang, since Sophie is from Dallas, while recreating the Kincaid siblings from earlier books and giving Jacob a slightly deeper although quieter voice. (Those Kincaids are kinda boisterous!) I have always appreciated how White’s tone comes across as though she were just telling you the story herself – there’s never any indication that she’s sitting in front of a mic reading the text from a tablet. She sounds as if she knows the Kincaids personally, and is bringing you – her BFF – up to speed on all the gossip. Hmm, actually, if I take this metaphor too far, you might start to wonder how she knows what goes on behind closed doors!! Let’s just say it’s a very relaxed and natural delivery, well suited to Shalvis’ writing, and made for a few entertaining hours of audiobook enjoyment.” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Narration for this story is provided by Karen White, and she just transforms the written words with her inflections, pacing and obvious enjoyment of the story. The second of this series that I’ve reviewed, both featured her as the narrator, and I have yet to not find her performance enhancing anything she presents. Both characters were clearly presented and distinct, and there were plenty of moments and situations that were simply laugh-out-loud. Shalvis writes a story that will transport you away, and White’s narration . . .
Book #4 in the Goddesses Anonymous series. Available now from Blackstone Audio. From the Publisher: “The deeper the darkness, the brighter the light For more than a decade, minister Analiese Wagner has felt privileged to lead her parishioners along a well-lit path. Her commitment has never been seriously tested until the frigid night she encounters a homeless family huddling in the churchyard. Offering them shelter in a vacant parish house apartment and taking teenage Shiloh Fowler—a girl desperate to rescue her parents—under her wing, she tests the loyalty and faith of her congregation. Isaiah Colburn, the Catholic priest who was her first mentor and the man for whom she secretly longed, understands her struggles only too well. At a crossroads, he has suddenly reappeared in her life, torn between his priesthood and his growing desire for a future with Analiese. Divided between love and the vows they’ve taken, both must face the possibilities of living very different lives or continuing to serve their communities. With a defeated family’s trust and her own happiness on the line, Analiese must define for herself where darkness ends and light begins.” My recording experience: I was really looking forward to Analiese’s story in this series. She’s a character I wanted to get to know better – some prickly elements to her, a protective outer shell – but it’s obvious that she has a good heart. This book puts her through all kinds of challenges, and like the others in the series brings us characters struggling with current social issues, primarily homelessness involving a family which is handled in a wonderfully complex way. I like how the series has touched on spirituality and faith without being dogmatic about religion, and that continues here. Though it’d probably be best to listen to these in order, Richards does a great job of writing each so it stands on its own well, too. Like the rest of the series, Richards sets this one in Asheville, NC, which is almost a character unto itself. Listen to a sample here: And the Giveaway: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. Cathy A. is the randomly selected winner and the CDs will be mailed out to her as soon as I get her address. Thanks to all for entering! I give away lots of books – to find out about them in the future, please consider following this blog, or my Facebook page, or on Twitter.
Book #2 in the Cedar Ridge series. Available now from Hachette Audio. From the Publisher: “UNEXPECTED AND UNDENIABLE . . .Bailey Moore has an agenda: skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she’s determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn’t realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn’t want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn’t the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she’s not planning to stick around. As head of ski patrol at his family’s resort, Hud thinks he’s seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he’s been missing far too long. Now he’ll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.” From the review in AudioFile Magazine: “Narrator Karen White once again brings to life this contemporary romance set at the Kincaid family’s ski resort in Cedar Ridge, Colorado. Bailey Moore, having been declared cancer free, is determined to check items off her bucket list. This includes learning to ski and painting a mural. Hudson Kincaid rescues Bailey when she accidentally gets trapped on a black diamond slope. Unbeknownst to Hudson, Bailey has been hired by his family to paint a mural at the resort. Listeners will enjoy White’s narration, especially the banter between Hudson and his family. White expertly voices Shalvis’s humor. Listeners can look forward to returning to Cedar Ridge in Shalvis’s next book.” From the review at AudioGals: “There’s not much more I can say that is new or unique about the wonderful that is Karen White’s narrating talent. She tackles the story as if it’s her own, with a natural pace that sounds like she’s just telling the story off the top of her head. She’s completely consistent with the various character voices. She has developed a certain blend of range/pitch/timbre to imply men’s voices, so that it’s clear who is talking, although the brothers did sound alike. Her delivery of emotional moments is genuine. Most of the time, those skills manage to become submersed in the story (this is a good thing) so that you are not aware of anything except the characters and the plot.” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Narration in this story is from Karen White, and she is one of my all-time favorites for . . .
