DEADLY SILENCE by Rebecca Zanetti plus GIVEAWAY

Blood Brothers, #1. Available October 4, 2016 from Hachette Audio. From the Publisher: “DON’T LOOK BACK Under siege. That’s how Ryker Jones feels. The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency he opened up with his blood brothers has lost a client in a brutal way. The past he can’t outrun is resurfacing, threatening to drag him down in the undertow. And the beautiful woman he’s been trying to keep at arm’s length is in danger…and he’ll destroy anything and anyone to keep her safe. Paralegal Zara Remington is in over her head. She’s making risky moves at work by day and indulging in an affair with a darkly dangerous PI by night. There’s a lot Ryker isn’t telling her and the more she uncovers, the less she wants to know. But when all hell breaks loose, Ryker may be the only one to save her. If his past doesn’t catch up to them first… Full of twists and turns you won’t see coming, DEADLY SILENCE is New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti at her suspenseful best.” From the review in AudioFile Magazine: “Karen White narrates this fast-paced romantic suspense with nonstop energy. Paralegal Zara Remington finds herself drawn into mystery and danger as her job and her personal life, particularly her relationship with the mysterious Ryker Jones, intersect. The story has lots of twists and turns as Zara and Ryker deepen their relationship while at the same time dealing with murder, kidnapping, and Ryker’s past. White maintains the energy and emotion of the story through variations in the pacing and intensity of her reading. Zara is unused to the situations she finds herself in, and White portrays her with a lot of emotion. She gives Ryker a deeper pitch and calmer tone that provide an engaging rhythm to the story’s narration.” From the review at The Book Nympho: “Having Karen White return as the narrator for this world was only natural. White brought Zanetti’s Sin Brothers to life and she does the same great job with the Blood Brothers. I also love the fact that White gets to reprise her role as the doctor that spans both series.” From the review at Hot Listens: “4.5 Hearts: I’m so glad that they got Karen White to do this series. After listening to her narrate the Sin Brothers, it was great to have her back to take us on this journey with Blood Brothers. I like her ability to voice alpha male characters and women characters. The real unique voice in this series is the voice of the “good doctor”. She sounds exactly how I would expect a person like this woman would sound. If you haven’t tried Karen White, I highly recommend her.” . . .

MATCHED & SMITTENED by Jamie Farrell plus GIVEAWAY

The Misfit Brides books 2 and 3. Available now at Audible.com. I’ve been recording all of Jamie’s Misfit Brides books this summer and having a blast with them.  Bliss is a fun town to hang out in!  #4 in the series, SUGARED is on the way and I’m starting my prep read of #5,  MERRIED.  But what was fun about these two is that they take place at the same time.  MATCHED is the story of Lindsay Castellano and her Country-Singer-That-Got-Away Will Truitt, aka Billy Brenton.  Their story is complex with lots of history so it’s a full length novel.  SMITTENED is a novella, about Bliss Ice Cream shop owner Dahlia Mallard, and Billy Brenton’s side man and best friend, bad boy Mikey Diamond.  While Lindsay and Will are working things through in one book, Mikey and Dahlia happen to fall in love in the other book.  There’s some overlap in the stories, so I was glad I got to record them close together.  And I think listeners should listen to them close together, too. From the review of MATCHED at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: “I listened to the audio edition of MATCHED with the fantastically talented Karen White narrating. Karen White is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Once again, Karen’s narration is really, truly wonderful. Her pacing is spot on. Her delivery is natural. I could listen to Karen all day and still be mesmerized. Her performances are always highly entertaining, polished and sublimely executed. I have discovered numerous new-to-me authors – including Jamie Farrell – thanks to Karen.” From the review of MATCHED at Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog: “Karen is an excellent fit for this series. She has that breezy, quirky, yet stubborn type of voice that can match all the women and their attitudes. She very much sales the quirkiness of the town and nailed that last section which just had to be fun to record!” From the review of SMITTENED at Reading Between the Wines Book Club: “Karen White returns to fantastically narrate SMITTENED.  There is nothing that falls short in her performance. She captures the persona of each character and brings them to life. Her pacing is spot on. Both her male and female voices sound genuine and character differentiation is a breeze. I could go on fan-girling, but suffice to say, Karen is one of my very favorite narrators for good reason. Her productions are always perfect, polished, exceptional pleasures. Listening to SMITTENED with Karen’s narration adds an additional layer of enjoyment to this installment of Misfit Brides.” From the review of SMITTENED at The Geeky Blogger: “Karen is such a great match for this series. She really nailed Dahlia and made me fall . . .

But wanting him for herself is a different story—because Pru’s been keeping a secret that could change everything. . . .” From the review at AudioGals: “How many ways can I say that Karen White is a terrific narrator for contemporary romance? Let me count the ways! Her tone is conversational and the pacing is completely natural. She has comic timing that matches Shalvis’ prose to perfection, and hey – she gets to voice another cute animal! Her character voices are well-developed, with differentiation in many ways, including timbre, range and acting/attitude, and it’s always clear which one is speaking. It always sounds like she’s having fun reading! I left the book feeling happy (that’s always my goal) – it was a great opening to a new series and the perfect summer listen!” From the review at Reading Between the Wines Bookclub: “SWEET LITTLE LIES is narrated by Karen White. She is hands-down one of my very favorite narrators. I’ve gotten to where I’ll try just about anything she voices and I’ve discovered new favorite authors because she narrated their works. The pairing of Jill Shalvis and Karen White is nothing short of exquisiteness. Karen’s voice is clear. She seamlessly differentiates between characters. Her pacing is right on and her tones and inflections are perfection! She really nails the humor, charm and sassiness that are inherent in Jill’s writing. If you haven’t listened to one of Karen’s performances, I highly recommend that you do… soon!” From the review at Bookfan: “Karen White did a fine job with the narration. I liked how she voiced each character and I had no trouble determining who was speaking. One particular scene involving a character who experienced possible food-poisoning had me laughing – . . .

But perhaps she does need to take her wedding dress-obsessed little boy somewhere else for a fresh start. CJ Blue is on top of the world. At least, he was last week when he stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Now, he’s in an empty confessional, hiding from the hullabaloo of a family wedding. a.k.a. the depths of hell. I’ve gotten to where I’ll pick up just about anything that Karen narrates. Yes, she’s that fabulous! I’ve found many new favorite authors via Karen – Jamie is one of them! Not surprisingly, Karen’s narration of BLISSED is excellent as she voices a variety of characters from little boys, to old men to autocratic queen generals. Her voice is clear, her delivery is natural and her pacing is perfect. You simply can’t go wrong with anything that Karen narrates! From the review at Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh my! “Karen White is a favorite and I always enjoy her narration. “ From the review at AudioGals: “Of course, when you write a romance with humor, who else should narrate but Karen White, who has done such great work with some of the best romantic comedies in audio? Her wonderful comedic timing and dry wit accentuate the antics, and her natural, talking-to-your-BFF pacing makes every book she reads a pleasure. She differentiates well among all the . . .

NOBODY BUT YOU by Jill Shalvis plus GIVEAWAY

#3 in the Cedar Ridge Series. Available now from Hachette Audio. From the Publisher: “SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN . . . After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock. Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease-and tempt-him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.” From the review at AudioGals: “Karen White is truly one of the top contemporary romance narrators today. She has been the voice of Shalvis’ Animal Magnetism and Cedar Ridge series, delivering these stories in her own inimitable way – which is to say, perfectly! She uses pacing well to indicate the emotions, both light and dark. She placed Sophie’s voice a little higher and gave her just the slightest Texas twang, since Sophie is from Dallas, while recreating the Kincaid siblings from earlier books and giving Jacob a slightly deeper although quieter voice. (Those Kincaids are kinda boisterous!) I have always appreciated how White’s tone comes across as though she were just telling you the story herself – there’s never any indication that she’s sitting in front of a mic reading the text from a tablet. She sounds as if she knows the Kincaids personally, and is bringing you – her BFF – up to speed on all the gossip. Hmm, actually, if I take this metaphor too far, you might start to wonder how she knows what goes on behind closed doors!! Let’s just say it’s a very relaxed and natural delivery, well suited to Shalvis’ writing, and made for a few entertaining hours of audiobook enjoyment.” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Narration for this story is provided by Karen White, and she just transforms the written words with her inflections, pacing and obvious enjoyment of the story.  The second of this series that I’ve reviewed, both featured her as the narrator, and I have yet to not find her performance enhancing anything she presents.  Both characters were clearly presented and distinct, and there were plenty of moments and situations that were simply laugh-out-loud.  Shalvis writes a story that will transport you away, and White’s narration . . .

Now that she has a second lease on life, she’s determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn’t realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn’t want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn’t the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she’s not planning to stick around. As head of ski patrol at his family’s resort, Hud thinks he’s seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he’s been missing far too long. Now he’ll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.” From the review in AudioFile Magazine: “Narrator Karen White once again brings to life this contemporary romance set at the Kincaid family’s ski resort in Cedar Ridge, Colorado. Bailey Moore, having been declared cancer free, is determined to check items off her bucket list. This includes learning to ski and painting a mural. Hudson Kincaid rescues Bailey when she accidentally gets trapped on a black diamond slope. Unbeknownst to Hudson, Bailey has been hired by his family to paint a mural at the resort. Listeners will enjoy White’s narration, especially the banter between Hudson and his family. White expertly voices Shalvis’s humor. Listeners can look forward to returning to Cedar Ridge in Shalvis’s next book.” From the review at AudioGals: “There’s not much more I can say that is new or unique about the wonderful that is Karen White’s narrating talent. She tackles the story as if it’s her own, with a natural pace that sounds like she’s just telling the story off the top of her head. She’s completely consistent with the various character voices. She has developed a certain blend of range/pitch/timbre to imply men’s voices, so that it’s clear who is talking, although the brothers did sound alike. Her delivery of emotional moments is genuine. Most of the time, those skills manage to become submersed in the story (this is a good thing) so that you are not aware of anything except the characters and the plot.” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Narration in this story is from Karen White, and she is one of my all-time favorites for . . .

ALL I WANT by Jill Shalvis PLUS GIVEAWAY

Animal Magnetism series, Book 7. Available now from Tantor Audio. From the Publisher: “Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler. Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes that it’s Parker who gets her engines going . . .” From the review at Reading Between the Wines: “The audio was excellently narrated by Karen White. She delivered both female and male genuine-sounding voices differentiating between each, so I could always tell who was talking. She even voiced the animals – the silly dog, two cute and playful kittens, and the wacky parrot, Peanut- perfectly. Her performance was well-paced with proper pauses and expression of emotions and feelings. There was nothing that fell short with Karen’s rendering and I look forward to listening to more audios she has narrated.” From the review at AudioGals: “Once again, Karen White’s narration was really, truly wonderful. Her delivery is natural, pacing perfect, as if she’s just telling you a story. She creates all the characters with enough differentiation to keep them all straight, using a lower, huskier range for Parker and a voice pitched slightly higher than the narrative for Zoe. And yes, she got to voice Peanut the Parrot again – “Boner!” – as well as the kittens and some great sounds from Notable Rescue Pet Oreo, Zoe’s Bernese Mountain dog. She takes even the animals on with great gusto! It was a lot of fun.” From the review at That’s What I’m Talking About: “I have come to really enjoy Ms. White’s performance in this series. After seven titles, her voices have come to capture all that I know about and enjoy from the folks of Sunshine, Idaho. She adds emotion and uniqueness into each of her characters. Her performance is consistent, solid and entertaining. She has a good range of different female and male voices, only once and a while hearing similarities, but even then, she suits the dialogue to the situation and character. All I Want is another delightful tale in a series about small town romances and a lot of silly/cute animal stories. Zoe and Parker’s romance had more . . .

MARKED by Rebecca Zanetti

Dark Protectors, Book 7. Available now from Audible.com From the Publisher: “Janie Kayrs has known Zane almost her whole life. He was her friend in the dream world. She trusted him. But that was before he kidnapped her, spiriting her away to an isolated cabin to learn what her dreams never told her. Like how dangerous he looks. How he got on the wrong side of the negotiating table. And how much sexier he is in real life…. Zane is a battle-hardened warrior, used to command and solitude. But Janie has drawn him from the minute they met. His need for her could destroy everything he’s worked for, but the risk is too sweet not to take it. They call her the Chosen One. But when it comes down to the questions of peace or war, life or death, safety or passion, it will be Janie who makes the choice…. Love is about to start conquering….” From the review at Hot Listens: “Once again, I really enjoyed the narration by Karen White. I’ve enjoyed it throughout the entire series. I was always able to tell which character was speaking. She had some wonderful accents, plus the demonic voices she had to tackle. There was even some revisit of the really young Janie, which she nails. If you haven’t tried Karen White, I recommend you try one of her audiobooks.” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Karen White has provided the narration for this series, and the continuity did help this series as a listener.  Her ability to maintain character voices, delivery, accent and tone, as well as appropriately age Janie from young girl to young woman, gives listeners an instant reference that brings each character to mind.  Throughout the series, White has nailed each emotional moment, taking her time to deliver the punch without overdramatizing or adding elements that would be too much. Dialogue, action and even silence are delivered to put the words on the page front and center, allowing listeners to disappear into the world where they can visualize and feel every moment. You’d be hard pressed to find a better narrative performance for a series than White. Having experienced her work in other genres, I know that she is certainly a must listen for me. In what had to be a formidable project, there were no moments that distracted, the listen was easy and the performance felt effortless, a great trick. This is a favorite series of mine, and one that will get lots of “relistens” when I want to escape and just enjoy.” My recording experience: I had such mixed feelings going into this one!  I was vocally exhausted from voicing all these Kurjans and . . .

SHADOWED by Rebecca Zanetti

Dark Protectors, Book 6. Available now at Audible.com From the Publisher: “Danger signs rise off Jase Kayrs like steam – the scars, the secrets, the strength. He’s got a mission, and he’s not interested in much outside of it. Except Brenna Dunne. Brenna was an ass-kicking, name-taking witch – before the poison that’s killing her sapped her powers too. She knows there’s more to Jase than a handsome face and an ugly history. But there’s no time to find out what. Taking him as her mate might save her life. But once she unleashes the force of his desire, there will be no turning back…. Ready or not, here they come….” From the review at I Am, Indeed: “Narration for this series is more than capably handled by Karen White. She’s taken this series from beginning to end, each character has a unique voice and delivery which instantly brings the character to mind. With the story taking place over several years, characters have grown and aged, and White deftly navigates the maturation without losing touch with the earliest introductions. Honestly, her work in this series is unforgettable, and perfectly suited to the story. She embodies the tension, the weariness with the long-term war and even the joy that every character tries to find in much needed moments away from the worries.  Emotions are rapid fire in this series, and moments of tension ebb and flow, while White deftly handles these changes in intensity, pacing the delivery in a way that brings the emotion to the listener.” From the review at Hot Listens: “Once again, Karen White does an amazing job. Brenna has this great Irish brogue. I don’t like it as much as Moira’s, who also has a large part in this book, but Brenna’s voice was wonderful. She also did a great job with gravelly demon voices, which I’m sure were tough to do. She continues to do a great job with men and female voices. I did listen at an increased speed, but that is normal for me.”   My recording experience: There’s a lot of dark vs. light in this book.  Jase fears he’s lost himself to the darkness; Brenna seems lighter than she really is.  Janie’s grown up to look like a beach volleyball player, but she’s got the weight of the world on her shoulders and darkness from both Zane and Kalin dragging her down.  But of course everyone’s more complex than even they know themselves to be (and I did love that Jase actually ends up doing some talk therapy with the prophet Lily Sotheby).  Lots of heart stopping action in this one, to boot!
