I’m 52 and started listening to audiobooks as a teenager and they were cassette tapes and Walkmans and the library was the only place to get them.
I raised my now grown kids on audiobooks on long trips and we went from YA to non-fiction on CDs but also from the library.
Then downloading became a thing and Audible became a necessity. I listen to fiction and non fiction; legal & medical thrillers, Cozy mysteries, and am willing to try pretty much anything.
Right now I’m listening to a childhood favorite which is a new audiobook – This Perfect Day by Ira Levin.

Your link to is broken, btw. But I went over there and checked out their SF & Fantasy selection. It’s pretty good, a bit more than just the big names and even some stuff I haven’t tried yet. So that’s great. I usually get my audiobooks from Audible or I get physical copies from my library, purchasing them, or I have a group of friends that we swap around our audio CDs so we all get to enjoy. I listen mostly at home doing chores or during relaxation. I started listening perhaps a decade ago when I had a long commute to work.

Sorry the link didn’t work – I just tested it and it seems to be fine. Hopefully it’s fixed!

        Great, thank you!

I get most of my purchase audio books from Audible, though I’ve gotten some from, Tantor, and AudiobookStand. I do borrow a lot through our local library, too.
PNR/urban fantasy is my favorite genre, though I listen to a lot of historical romance, too. I mostly listen while doing things on the computer and while getting ready for work or for bed.

I get most of my audiobooks in a form that I get to keep, from Downpour, Tantor or AudiobookStand, though I also buy from Audible if no other source is available. I listen to a variety of genres – history (Tacitus), literature (Shakespeare, Austen), urban or Paranormal fantasy (Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs), historical and steampunk fiction (O’Brien, Novik, Carriger) and some contemporary romance (Julie James, Jill Shalvis). I hadn’t noticed until just now, but most, but definitely not all, of my preferred authors are female. I mostly listen in my vehicle, as I’m travelling for work to and from other communities.

  5. I get most of my audiobooks from the library, Audible or publishers (for review). I’ve always enjoyed listening to books, starting when I was 7 years old and got an album of the children’s book, Greyfriar’s Bobby. I listened to that story almost everyday. When I first met my husband, we lived in separate cities and audiobooks made that five-hour drive enjoyable.
But, my listening ratcheted up when hubby bought me a set of Bose headphones for Christmas a couple of years ago. Now I can listen over vacuuming, shopping and other mundane, mindless activities. Last year, I listened to over 50 books and I’m on track to surpass that number this year. I’m thrilled that the audio business is booming with so much attention being paid to making the performances outstanding.

My genre is romance all the way. The last 3 audiobooks that I bought was: When It’s Real by Erin Watt, Under the Cover by Rebecca Zanetti (one of my favorite authors) and White Hot by Ilona Andrews. I buy 99% of my audiobooks from audible but I’m looking at alternative places since they are undergoing a price hike.
My local library also uses Overdrive, OneClickdigital and Hoopla.
So I barely read books anymore. I don’t think I’ve read more than 5 Ebooks this year. But I average about 15-20 audiobooks a month.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

I get most of my audiobooks from the public library. I even pay a yearly few to one because of their great digital ebooks and audiobooks. I do purchase some from Audible.

  8. Love, love audiobooks! I’ve been listening for years and have at least 3 going at one time (iPod, bathroom, car). I listen whenever and wherever I can.

I’m a bit of an audiobook addict! I first discovered audiobooks when thr Harry Potter series came out and I had a problem with my eyes and was unable to read. Now I listen everyday. On my commute to work, and while doing things like housework and grocery shopping. I get my audiobooks from several different places like the library, through Overdrive and Hoopla apps, a subscription to Audible, and some from Audiobooks. com. I listen to mostly romance and erotic romance books. <3

  10. Angela says:

I`m a romance reader and I love to listen to audio books. I listen when I do housework, gardening, driving, whenever I can. Typically I am reading a print or ebook and also listening to one as well. I usually get my audiobooks through Audible and the Hoopla app through my library.
My kids love audiobooks as well
