ALL I WANT by Jill Shalvis PLUS GIVEAWAY

Animal Magnetism series, Book 7.

Available now from Tantor Audio.B1893_AllWant-238x238

From the Publisher:

“Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler.

Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes that it’s Parker who gets her engines going . . .”

From the review at Reading Between the Wines:

“The audio was excellently narrated by Karen White. She delivered both female and male genuine-sounding voices differentiating between each, so I could always tell who was talking. She even voiced the animals – the silly dog, two cute and playful kittens, and the wacky parrot, Peanut- perfectly. Her performance was well-paced with proper pauses and expression of emotions and feelings. There was nothing that fell short with Karen’s rendering and I look forward to listening to more audios she has narrated.”

From the review at AudioGals:

“Once again, Karen White’s narration was really, truly wonderful. Her delivery is natural, pacing perfect, as if she’s just telling you a story. She creates all the characters with enough differentiation to keep them all straight, using a lower, huskier range for Parker and a voice pitched slightly higher than the narrative for Zoe. And yes, she got to voice Peanut the Parrot again – “Boner!” – as well as the kittens and some great sounds from Notable Rescue Pet Oreo, Zoe’s Bernese Mountain dog. She takes even the animals on with great gusto! It was a lot of fun.”

My recording experience:

I cannot believe that this is the 7th book in this series! I hope I’ve done it justice as I think that each book just gets better. Having met Jill in person and following her online, I can imagine that the rescue angle gives her a particular investment in the animal loving folks of Sunshine, Idaho.  From her posts about her dogs and her daughters’ rescue kittens, I’m guessing that some of the scenes between Oreo and the kittens in ALL I WANT are taken directly from real life.  At least I hope so. 🙂 And I happen to have a dog who is surprised by her own farts, so I know she’s truth talking there.

But animal hijinks aside, what I really love about Jill’s books most of all is her take on hilariously neurotic women in love with guys who adore them but don’t always get them, at least at first.  The inner monologues she writes for these women are SO fun to perform. (Example in the listening sample below!)

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.  Linda is the randomly selected winner and the CDs will be mailed out to her as soon as I get her address.  Thanks to all for entering! 1. THANK YOU! I started listening to it last night and was getting a lot of strange looks from my fellow walkers/runners on the bridge I like to exercise on. I’m sure it’s because I kept laughing out loud. I can’t wait to listen to some more tonight! AND I’ve already told my library that they’ll be getting this audio soon and they’re absolutely thrilled!

    • YAY! So glad you’re enjoying it. Jill’s book are dangerous that way.

  2. I haven’t read or listened to many of Jill’s books, but they sound great. Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the giveaway. My dog Nikki and late kitty Georgie are rescues

  4. Our last rescue dog is named Augie. She was abandoned near our house and has a very sweet personality.

  5. Thanks for the sample! I have become addicted to listening to books lately because I can listen to them when driving, walking, shopping, etc. I love your work with this series and from books by Julie James! I especially love the AM series cuz who can’t resist stories with fun animals in them! =D We were lucky to rescue the sweetest mini labradoodle from the Humane Society a few years ago and her name is Dixie. We could never figure out why someone would give her up, she is the most loyal, loving and gentle dog. Sometimes I think my husband loves her best! haha
Thanks for the chance to win! =D

  6. I love, love, love this series and am so excited for All I Want! We have an eleven year old rescue we adore named Clifford. We got him when he was only a few months old. He’s an absolute sweety.

  7. I’d love to win and listen to this! We have a rescue golden/greyhound mix who we named Jasmine, after the Disney princess. It’s an apt description as she appears to fly when she runs. She’s a handful – but much loved. She was one of a huge litter that was left to die in an abandoned trailer when the people left just after the pups were born. I’m very grateful that a pet rescue group stepped in and took care of the pups and then offered them for adoption. Thanks for the giveaway!

    • My email address is lindalou (at) cfl (dot) rr (dot) com. Thank you!

    • I should have asked for pictures! What an interesting mix. And sad story. With a happy ending!

      • She has beautiful hair like a Golden’s… but I keep it ultra short as she’s in the pool multiple times a day and she dries much quicker with the short hair. With her hair, she looks more like a golden, without, a greyhound 🙂

    • Linda, you are the randomly selected winner! I’ll email you to get your mailing address.

  8. Can’t wait to listen to this one. Love your narration, you are the voice for Jill Shalvis’ books!

Since I love to talk about my cat , I’ll tell you about ours. We have a rescue named Gus. Gus is a very personable guy, he loves to greet our guests and comes running from wherever he’s napping in the house to say hello. He pretends he’s a great hunter, but spends only about 1/2 hour a day outside in our backyard. He caught a mouse (once!) and brought it into the house and released it. Thanks, Buddy! If I knew how, I think I could train him to do tricks, he loves attention and pets so much. We’re really lucky to have found him, our gain is definitely someone else’s loss.

  9. I love Salvia and you are a FANTASTIC narrator for her books. My mom rescued a pug named Bandit with a pretty serious Napoleon complex. And my chocolate lab Lady Henrietta Rayne PuffnStuff (Henrie for short) likes to herd Bandit to let him know that is not, in fact, the one in charge.

    • That is totally supposed to say Shalvis. Stupid Autocorrect.

      • I’m sure you’re a fan of salvia as well 😉

    • Thanks Erica! Your dog’s name is awesome.

  10. Love this series! The cover art alone has me interested, but the “sound bite” has me wanting it NOW!

    • The cover art has improved significantly over the years!

  11. Can’t wait to listen to this one! My pet, Casey, was a rescue dog. Turns out he was part Bichon! Had all the markings and was a little taller because he was mixed with a miniature Schnauzer. Years later, I rescued a lab for my niece and nephew and they named her Casey for my dog.
