RESCUE MY HEART by Jill Shalvis

Available now from Tantor Audio.B1221_RescueHeart_D
From the Publisher:

“After a tragic stint in the National Guard, Adam Connelly returns to Idaho and to Belle Haven, the animal shelter he owns with his brothers. All Adam wants is to be alone. Then he opens the door to the past and to the woman whose heart he once broke. Still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, but this time, unusually vulnerable.
Holly learned the hard way to never depend on a man for anything. Now, of all men, Adam is the last one she wants to see, and the only one she needs. Her father has gone missing in the Bitterroot Mountains and she could use someone with tracking skills to help find him.
For Holly and Adam, each with their ghosts, a trek this desperate, this unpredictable, and this intimate will have its share of risks—including opening their hearts one more time.”

My Recording Experience:
I have to say that I think this may be my favorite so far in the Animal Magnestism series by Jill Shalvis.  I’ve loved all the characters and the ways that the animal theme is incorporated in each, Adam and Holly’s stories had a depth and darkness to them that drew me right in, I found their struggles to deal with their demons moving, but at the same time Shalvis’ trademark humor was still there in force.  A perfect balance.  Except for one thing.  There were just not enough animals “talking” in this one for me.  I think maybe I got to do one “mew” and one “arf”, although there was a great deal of mind meld communication between Adam and his rescue dog, that’s just not as fun!
So, Jill, if there’s to be another in the series – Griff comes back from the Middle East perhaps??!! I demand more animal sounds! 🙂

Totally addicted to audiobooks and the genre. To find a series and a talented narrator to boot? Priceless. Without audiobooks, my workday wouldn’t be much to look forward to…quite boring, actually. I’d love to try this one!
